Manufacturer-authorised Instantel calibration for vibration monitors, seismographs, geophones, microphones and associated sensors, giving you traceable evidence that your equipment is accurate and ready for field use.

Monitoring data is only useful if the instrument producing it is accurate. When vibration, air overpressure or sound measurements are being used to demonstrate compliance, investigate complaints, protect nearby assets or support contractual decisions, an out-of-calibration monitor creates an avoidable risk to the project and to the evidence behind those decisions.

SOCOTEC, through Datum Monitoring Ireland Ltd trading as LDG Datum, provides specialist Instantel calibration services from our authorised calibration facility in Moira, Northern Ireland. We support clients across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with vibration monitor calibration, seismograph calibration and sensor calibration for Instantel monitoring equipment.

Instantel Calibration Services - What We Do

Calibration

Instantel equipment is routinely used where vibration, noise and air overpressure data may be reviewed by clients, engineers, regulators, insurers or other third parties. In those situations, a functioning instrument is not enough. You need evidence that the measurement system has been checked against traceable reference equipment and is operating within the applicable manufacturer specification.

Instantel recommends annual calibration for its products, including seismographs, geophones, microphones and accelerometers. Calibration should also be considered after significant mechanical or electrical shock, water ingress, damage, sensor interference or any event that could affect instrument response. A built-in Sensor Check is useful for confirming installation and connection, but it is not a substitute for calibration because it does not compare the measured response against an external traceable reference.

Our Instantel calibration service is suited to organisations that own, operate or manage vibration and environmental monitoring equipment, including:

  • Quarrying, blasting and mining operations
  • Construction, piling, demolition and tunnelling contractors
  • Rail, highways, utilities and infrastructure operators
  • Environmental, acoustic, geotechnical and vibration consultants
  • Equipment hire fleets and organisations managing multiple monitoring units

The outcome is straightforward: calibrated monitoring equipment with serial-number-specific evidence of its condition and calibration status, supporting reliable measurements, auditability and a defensible project record.

Instantel Equipment We Calibrate

We provide calibration support for current and established Instantel monitoring equipment. The calibration scope is confirmed against the model, serial number and sensor configuration before equipment is dispatched, so the required monitor and sensors can be handled as one defined service package.

Vibration monitors and seismographs

Calibration support includes commonly used Instantel vibration monitoring systems such as Micromate Plus, Micromate, Minimate Pro, Minimate Plus and Blastmate III. This gives owners of both current and established equipment a manufacturer-authorised route for routine calibration and service assessment.

Geophones, accelerometers and microphones

We also support associated Instantel sensors including geophones, accelerometers, linear microphones and compatible sound level microphones where applicable. Sensor calibration is important because the monitor and sensor together form the measurement chain used to produce project records.

If you are unsure whether a particular Instantel model or sensor can be calibrated, provide the model and serial number and we will confirm the applicable calibration route before you send the equipment.

How Our Instantel Calibration Service Works

Calibration

The process is designed to keep calibration clear, traceable and easy to manage, whether you are sending one vibration monitor or planning annual calibration across a larger equipment fleet.

Request and scope - Provide the model, serial number, quantity of equipment and the sensors to be included. For multiple units, we can plan the intake in batches so calibration can be aligned with your operational requirements.

Receipt and as-found assessment - Equipment is identified and checked on receipt. The as-found condition is recorded before adjustment so there is evidence of how the monitor or sensor was performing when it arrived for calibration.

Manufacturer-authorised calibration - The equipment is calibrated using Instantel procedures and traceable reference equipment. Testing covers the applicable response range and relevant calibration requirements for the monitor and sensor configuration, including ISEE or DIN requirements where applicable.

Adjustment and condition review - Where an adjustment is required within the calibration process, the instrument is brought back within the applicable specification. Any fault, damage or condition that prevents successful calibration is identified so the appropriate repair or replacement route can be agreed.

Certification and return - On successful completion, calibration evidence is issued against the specific equipment serial number and the instrument is prepared for return. The documentation provides a clear record of the calibration date, test basis and results for your equipment file.

Calibration Certificates and Traceable Results

A vibration monitor calibration service should provide more than a new date label. The value is in the evidence behind it. Manufacturer-authorised calibration gives you a documented link between the instrument, the calibration procedure and the reference equipment used to verify its response.

Depending on the equipment and applicable procedure, the calibration record can include:

  • The vibration monitor, seismograph and sensor model and serial numbers
  • The date and location of calibration
  • The as-found condition before adjustment
  • Reference equipment used and its traceability
  • Graphical or tabulated calibration results where applicable
  • Confirmation of the technician responsible for the calibration

This matters when monitoring results are challenged or independently reviewed. A current calibration certificate provides evidence that the instrument was professionally calibrated at a defined point in time. If the as-found assessment identifies an out-of-tolerance condition, it also gives your team a factual basis for deciding whether recent measurements or project records require further review.

Why Choose SOCOTEC for Instantel Calibration

Calibration

Instantel-authorised calibration capability

Datum Monitoring is listed by Instantel as an authorised calibration facility. The service therefore follows manufacturer-specific calibration procedures rather than treating a specialist vibration monitor or seismograph as a generic test instrument.

Manufacturer procedures and traceability

Calibration is based on the requirements developed for Instantel equipment and uses traceable reference equipment. This provides a stronger technical record than a basic functional check or an unverified third-party test.

Monitoring expertise behind the calibration

Our teams use vibration, noise and environmental monitoring equipment on live construction, infrastructure and industrial projects. We understand how calibration status affects project data, compliance reporting, alarm investigations and the practical availability of field equipment.

One route for equipment, calibration and technical support

As an Instantel distributor and authorised calibration facility, we can support equipment beyond the calibration certificate, including product advice, replacement requirements and technical queries. This reduces unnecessary hand-offs between a general calibration laboratory, equipment supplier and monitoring specialist.

UK calibration support from Moira

Our Moira facility provides a manufacturer-authorised Instantel calibration route for customers across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, reducing the need to send routine calibration work back to the manufacturer overseas.

Instantel Calibration FAQs

Instantel recommends annual calibration for its products, including seismographs, geophones, microphones and accelerometers. Earlier calibration should be considered if equipment has been damaged, exposed to water, subjected to significant mechanical or electrical shock, or otherwise handled in a way that could affect measurement accuracy.

No. Sensor Check is a useful operational check for sensor connection, orientation and basic response, but it does not compare the instrument against an external traceable reference and cannot replace the annual calibration process.

We support calibration of commonly used Instantel monitoring systems including Micromate, Minimate Pro, Minimate Plus and Blastmate III, subject to the specific model, condition and sensor configuration. Send us the model and serial number and we will confirm the calibration scope before dispatch.

Send the monitor and the sensors you want covered by the calibration. Where the equipment is calibrated as a system, the complete monitor and sensor set used in the field should be supplied. Provide the model and serial number for each item so the calibration scope can be confirmed before dispatch.

Our normal turnaround is within one week of receiving your Instantel instrument. This may vary depending on the number of units submitted, their condition and whether any faults or repairs are identified during calibration.

We will confirm the current lead time when your calibration is booked. For clients managing multiple monitors, we can also arrange a phased calibration programme to help maintain sufficient equipment availability for live projects.

The as-found assessment provides a record of the condition on receipt. If a fault, damage or out-of-tolerance response prevents successful calibration, we can advise on the appropriate next step, including repair support or replacement where required, before the equipment returns to service.

To arrange Instantel calibration, send us the equipment model, serial number, quantity and the sensors to be included.

We will confirm the calibration scope, current lead time and return arrangements before you dispatch the equipment.
